Need:

Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm (AAA) occurs in more than 2% of the adult population.

The condition may result in immediate death following rupture of the aneurismal sac.

Repair procedures are estimated at over 50,000 annual cases (USA).

Current solutions:

  • Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) – applicable in only 60% of cases
  • Open surgery

Innovation:

In Situ Weldable Hybrid Stent combining two components:

  • Isolating liquid state polymeric structure - solidifying on site by thermal regulation (Reverse Thermo Responsive Polymer)

  • Low profile metal stent component

Vascular aneurisms

    • Improved maneuverability – 50% profile reduction, may allow more EVAR cases
