Brainwatch - continuous pupil monitoring (BioDesign)

Different neurological pathways can often be ascertained through the pupillary behavior. For example, early detection of neurological deterioration for traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke and patients after brain surgeries. Currently, manual pupillary assessment protocols uses a penlight to evaluate pupil reactivity and a ruler to measure pupil size. In this settings, intermittent evaluation of pupils by the ICU personnel is considered standard.


The BrainWatch will replace the traditional manual pupils' examination with open eyes into continuous and easy to use monitoring with shut eyes.

The proposed solution is composed of light source, detector and monitoring unit.
